Pathways to Environmental Engineering: Monitoring Connecticut’s Air Quality Session 3 of 3

Event Time:
Saturday, May 11, 2019 - 9:00am
Location:
Room 113 See map
17 Hillhouse Ave
New Haven, CT
Event Description:

Ever wonder how the air quality in Connecticut compares to the air quality in other cities along the East Coast? In this 3-part workshop, we will build simple air quality monitors to track the concentration of ozone, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds, and particulate matter. We will then take a field trip to the Yale Coastal Field Station, an air quality monitoring site, to deploy our monitors and learn about how we measure air pollution along the coast of Connecticut. Finally, we will explore how air quality in the New Haven area compares to other bigger cities like New York and Washington DC, key factors that contribute to air pollution in a city, and the health impacts of air pollution.
This is a three part series – attendance to all three workshops is required:

Saturday, May 4 (Mann Center, 10 Hillhouse Avenue)
Saturday, May 11 (field trip, meet at 17 Hillhouse Avenue)
Saturday, May 18 (17 Hillhouse Avenue, Room 113)
