Event Description:

Come join us for a day of hands-on science, festivities, and prizes at the 3rd annual Pathways West Fest! This year’s theme is The Science of Energy! How do plants store energy from the sun? Can you get power from…mud!?? How much energy is in a bag of potato chips? Learn all about the science of energy at our largest event of the year! Build wind turbines and solar panels, make your own batteries and food, and much more!  You’ll see many different places where science can happen from chemistry labs to an urban farm. Remember to dress comfortably – we’ll be examining energy both inside and outside! Closed-toe shoes and long pants required for laboratory rotations. Registration required. A yummy lunch is included.
Free admission. Open to 125 Yale Pathways Scholars and Yale West Campus staff’s children only. Grades 6–12. Registration opens soon at http://onhsa.yale.edu/westfest2019. *Parents can drop off students directly at Yale’s West Campus or students can take shuttle from New Haven.
