Event Description:

The Yale Science Diplomats are proud to announce the fourth talk in their Science in the News” series, “Three Ways to Kill Humanity: The Science of Human Extinction.”
This month, Science In the News asks, “How do you kill a species?” You could: kill each organism individually, destroy its environment, or change that species into something else entirely. In these talks, participants will discuss how humans are self-inflicting each of these scenarios. Hear about how globalization and urbanization are leading to the outbreak of more exotic viruses, why we might be in the midst of the 6th mass extinction, how we could engineer ourselves into something non-human, and what we can do about each of them to save ourselves.
