Pathways Green Chemistry Day 2016

Event Time:
Saturday, April 30, 2016 - 10:00am
Location:
17 Hillhouse Avenue
New Haven, CT 6511
Event Description:

Did you know that there are over 700 new chemicals being used in the U.S. every year and that you are exposed to over 168 chemicals EVERY DAY? The good news is that most of them are safe, but some of them really can be dangerous to your health!
Yale Green Chemistry scientists invite Pathways to Science High School students to day of learning! This workshop will help you think more about chemicals in your daily life and help you learn how to make smart choices to reduce your exposure to these chemicals. Specifically, you will learn how chemicals get into your body and what your body does with them after they are there, you’ll be able to look at a chemical safety label and see just how safe (or unsafe!) a chemical really is, and you’ll be able to investigate the safety of products you use every day, like beauty products, makeup, cleaning products, etc. You will learn from people who study the toxicity of chemicals and who work hard to try to find ways to design safer chemicals. By doing hands-on experiments and working with each other, you will leave with knowledge you can use to help protect yourself from potentially harmful chemicals in the world around you. We hope to see you there!
Exclusively for Yale Pathways to Science high school students. Registration required HERE.
