Event Description:
When, if ever, is it ethical to view images of famine, poverty, and violence? What responses—if any—do such images demand of their viewers? What is our relationship to images in a time when the Islamic State produces and distributes elaborate, ritualized scenes of violence for global consumption? As a collaboration with JUNCTURE: Explorations in Art and Inter-national Human Rights, a new initiative at Yale Law School, this panel discussion combines scholarly, journalistic, and legal perspectives. The talk will be moderated by James Silk, Yale Law professor and JUNCTURE director.
