Event Time:

Location:

217 Prospect Street
New Haven, CT 6511
Event Description:

The mission of Girls’ Science Investigations (GSI) is to motivate empower, and interest girls in developing the skills they need to pursue careers in science. University students and professors act as mentors and provide a context for exploring and understanding the various disciplines of science through hands-on activities in a laboratory environment. Through student scientific-engagement and parental awareness, GSI strives to close the gap in science found between males and females today.
GSI: The Floating World: Have you ever wondered why some things sink and some things float? Is there a connection between you floating in a swimming pool and a balloon floating in the air? You will be able to discover the answers to these questions by doing hands on experiments, while recording and analyzing data in the same way a scientist does. Activities include: making your own device to measure volume, making a boat to determine how much it can carry without sinking, and using a blower to dispel your own handmade craft down a zip line and more! Join us to explore the floating world on November 11th!
Girls’ Science Investigations is limited to 6th to 8th grade girls. Pathways students receive priority, but any middle school girl can join! Lunch and snacks are included.

Registration will open in October.
